On his first day of school, Fenn stopped at the classroom door. His tail was enormous. What if it bumped a chair? What if it swept somebody's crayons away? He tucked it close and slipped inside. The crayons stayed put. So far.

At the drawing table, Fenn sat on his tail. Boing! He bounced right off his chair. Next he wrapped it around his tummy. That worked beautifully, until the fluffy tip crept up, up, up and tickled his own nose. "Ah-CHOO!"

His paper flew under the table. Fenn crawled after it, still holding his tail. Willa, a rabbit with one ear tilted sideways, handed him the paper. Fenn peeked at her. She smiled, then quickly hid behind her drawing. It was a very small smile.

Soon the class lined up chairs to make a pretend bus. Fenn looked at the narrow spaces between them. He opened his mouth to ask for a seat at the back. Instead he said, "Could I have an aisle seat? My tail needs a little room."

Fenn sat down and curled his tail beside his chair. Willa came over, holding her drawing. "Could I sit beside you?" she asked softly. "Yes!" Fenn moved his tail and saved her a spot. There was even room for her picture on their laps.

"Ready?" asked Fenn. Willa nodded. Fenn puffed his cheeks. "Brrr-OOgle-bloop!" The bus lurched nowhere at all, but Willa giggled so hard her drawing wobbled. Fenn tried a louder one. Tomorrow, he hoped, they would take the bus to the moon.
