Orla and the Moon's Lost Glow
Page 2
That misty night, the shore felt very still. Orla peeked from her little lighthouse door and looked up. The moon was there, but its silver glow seemed to be missing. Orla held her lantern close and listened to the quiet, quiet sea.

Orla lifted her lantern high, and it glowed like a tiny warm star. Then she began a slow, sleepy walk along the shore. Step by step, soft as a hush, she went where the sand was damp and silver and the mist lay gentle as a blanket.

At the water’s edge, Orla spotted Mira the Sea Glass. A tiny green shimmer blinked in the lantern light. "Here, little one—just a pinch of light for your path." Orla smiled, and the soft sparkle showed her the next safe step.

Soon Orla reached a moonlit tide pool. Her lantern shone into the clear little water, and the ripples caught the light and made a soft, shining ring. It wobbled gently, then glowed, like a bedtime halo on the shore.

Near the tide line, Pip the Shell gave a tiny, soothing murmur. "This way, dear light-seeker, shh... follow the gentle curve of sand." Orla nodded and listened, and the little shell’s whisper felt like a lullaby leading her on.

Ahead, the mist thinned a little. Orla saw sea glass, tide pools, and shells shining together in the soft dark. Their small lights did not chase the night away. They only made it friendly, bright, and kind.

Orla paused beside the calm, dark water. She lifted her little lantern, and its warm glow rose softly into the mist, like a gentle hello. Above her, the moon seemed to listen, waiting and peaceful.

Then, very slowly, the moon’s silver glow began to return. First it was a shy little sparkle, then a soft round shine, and then a full, sweet brightness. The shore grew calm and bright, and Orla smiled as everything felt safely home.

Orla turned her tiny lantern toward the lighthouse and walked home on the gentle path. Behind her, the moon shone kindly above the sea, as if saying thank you. Small kindnesses, Orla knew, can softly guide the way.
