In the empty car-wash bay, Sunny rolled beneath the soap brush. A soft blob landed on the round yellow car’s roof. Sunny looked up with windshield eyes. "A crown!" Merritt, the boxy teal car, rolled in beside Sunny. "We are here for a sensible wash."

Sunny caught another blob and shaped it into a point. Then two points. "Now it’s a royal mountain!" Merritt watched. While Sunny blinked away a bubble, Merritt nudged foam onto that level teal roof. One neat tower rose. Then another. "For even washing," Merritt said.

Sunny spotted Merritt’s towers. "Your wash has turrets!" Merritt spotted Sunny’s new foamy arch. "Your mountain has a door." Sunny added a balcony. Merritt added a chimney. Sunny added a second balcony, just in case anyone wanted to wave from two places at once.

The brush swished past, and both cars ducked beneath their wobbling castles. Merritt’s chimney leaned toward Sunny’s balcony. Sunny’s balcony leaned back. "Excuse my roof," said Merritt. "Your roof is very polite," said Sunny. A single bubble floated between their windshield eyes. Pop!

Sunny snorted. Merritt squeaked. Then both cars laughed so hard their castles slid down in one enormous, slippery FLOOMP! The rinse swept the foam away. Sunny and Merritt gleamed. Two last bubbles settled beneath their windshields. "Moustaches," whispered Merritt. "Very sensible," said Sunny. They rolled out proudly.
