Are You Hidden?
Page 2
At the wide tunnel, two tracks ran side by side. Button, a short, round yellow steam engine, counted with her eyes shut. Baritone, a tall, boxy blue steam engine, slipped into the tunnel. "Ready or not, here I come!" called Button.

Baritone was tucked away so neatly that Button saw only empty track. Then a blue face peeked out. "Am I hidden?" Baritone whispered. Button turned. "Not now!" Baritone popped back in. This time, Button heard a tiny throat-clearing from the dark.

"AM I HIDDEN?" Baritone announced. His voice rolled out of the tunnel and came rolling back: HIDDEN, hidden, hidden. Button rocked with laughter. "I could hear you from the other end!" Baritone considered this. "What if I ask more quietly?"

Baritone went deep into the tunnel. Button waited. And waited. A blue face appeared right beside her. "IS THIS QUIETER?" Baritone boomed. "No," said Button, giggling. "My turn to hide." She shut her eyes tight. "Now I'm invisible!"

Baritone looked down one track. He looked down the other. Button stood beside him, eyes still shut, trying not to laugh. "Oh, dear," Baritone said solemnly. "Where could Button be?" He leaned closer to her. "Perhaps she's hiding behind you."
