Nim's first meadow sleepover was nearly perfect. The grass made a cozy bed. Her friends nestled nearby. Nim tucked in her hooves and listened to the lovely quiet. PFFFFT! Her eyes popped open. "Who said that?" she whispered. Something rustled beside her.

Nim peeked under a leaf. A mouse was curled there, fast asleep. PFFFFT! The mouse opened one eye. "Not me," said Mouse. "I squeak." He gave a tiny squeak to prove it. Nim yawned so wide she nearly swallowed the leaf.

A pair of ears stuck up from the grass. Nim tiptoed over. PFFFFT! "Rabbit?" she asked. "I go thump," said Rabbit, thumping softly. Nim waited beside him, but her head dipped lower and lower. She almost asked the grass next.

PFFFFT! Nim spun toward a bush. "Was that you?" The bush did not answer. Nim leaned closer. The leaves wiggled because her own sleepy nose was puffing on them. Behind her, Mouse squeaked a giggle, and Rabbit's ears bobbed.

Nim sat down with a plop. "Oh. That was me." Her cheeks felt warm. Rabbit gave a gentle thump. "Can we play a sleepy sound game?" Nim asked. Mouse squeaked. Rabbit thumped. The bush rustled when Nim brushed past it.

Now it was Nim's turn. She tucked her muzzle into the grass and breathed in. Mouse and Rabbit waited. Out came the smallest little "pfft." Nim's eyes closed before anyone could ask for another turn. Soon the meadow had only two sounds: a squeak, and a thump.
